The British Embassy in Djibouti hosted a send-off event Thursday 27 to celebrate this year’s two Djiboutian Chevening Scholars ahead of their departure to the United Kingdom.
The event brought together Ms Ilwad Mahdi Abdi who will be joining the University of Sussex to study International Law.
The event was attended by H.E. Vinay Talwar, British Ambassador to Djibouti, and Mr Vianney Bizimana, the Acting CEO of iib’s Djibouti , alongside colleagues and guests who gathered to celebrate the scholars’ achievements and wish them well ahead of this important next step in their academic journeys.
iib is the proud sponsor of Ms Ilwad Mahdi Abdi supporting their Chevening scholarship and studies in the UK. This support reflects iib’s commitment to investing in education, developing young talent, and contributing to the growth of future leaders.
The occasion also provided an opportunity to recognise the value of the Chevening programme in creating opportunities for talented Djiboutians to gain international academic experience and bring new knowledge and expertise back to their country.
The British Embassy congratulated both scholars and wished them every success as they begin their studies in the UK. The Embassy also extends its sincere appreciation to IIB for its continued support of the Chevening programme and for its commitment to investing in the education and development of Djibouti’s future leaders.
